8/15

Today was the day of my 3rd D&C. I feel like I remember less and less each time. They actually were running ahead of schedule so I had my surgery about 20-30 minutes earlier than anticipated and was only about the hospital for a few hours. We dropped our dog off to get his haircut and our son off for daycare beforehand.

The blood draw was done to send off for genetic testing, I was hooked up to an IV and got my pain meds and relaxation drugs, got wheeled off to the surgery room. I had the oxygen mask put on and the next thing I remember was waking up in the post op room, crying, as usual.

I stayed there for probably 45 minutes and then got to go up to a room and see my husband, drink water, eat crackers and go to the bathroom.

I called my OB's office already to reschedule my appointment to 2 weeks postop instead of 4 weeks which makes me feel better. She said I'll discuss scheduling my hysteroscopy and biopsy at that appointment, which should be okay. I anticipate getting that done about another 3 weeks after that visit. After the post op visit I also plan to call the RE and get another consult made to discuss the other testing I haven't had done yet, and if this changes anything in her protocols or care plan for me.

I'm assuming we will:

  • Have Carter do his bloodwork and semen analysis
  • Determine whether I need to have my hemoglobin electrophoresis tested as well as adrenal antibodies
  • Determine whether I need my baseline ultrasound and hormone testing, as well as cavity evaluation and bloodwork
  • Ask about my retroverted uterus, whether I need to retest my AMH and thyroid antibodies
  • Discuss whether or not this is the time to do sperm DNA fragmentation testing
So my next steps are:
  1. D&C follow up 8/29
  2. Schedule hysteroscopy and biopsy
  3. Call RE to schedule consult and/or testing, see what they need sent over
I feel a little better that these steps, at least the scheduling part, could be done before September, and the testing hopefully all in September. We are not planning to try for a baby at this time, so nothing should get in the way of testing besides the doctors' availabilities.

I also have my regular PCP visit in early September, as well as an appointment with an endocrinologist, which I may or may not need after speaking with the RE but I feel better having it scheduled.
